How to Publish a Book - History
History of HowtoPublishaBook.org
HowtoPublishaBook.org began as the Raleigh Write 2 Publish Group in Raleigh, North Carolina in June 2006. Stacey Cochran
served as an assistant organizer for the group, which met monthly at the Cameron Village Regional Public Library. Each month,
the group featured a speaker (an author, a panel of authors, editors, publishers, etc.) to discuss how to publish a book.
By August of 2007, the group had grown to more than 300 members.
Realizing a demand for this kind
of featured-speaker discussion on the topic of how to publish a book, Stacey started similar groups in Charlotte, Wilmington,
Greensboro, and Greenville, North Carolina, as well as in Richmond, Virginia and Washington DC.
In
August 2007, Stacey launched HowtoPublishaBook.org as an online hub for discussion on the subject of how to publish a book,
how to get a literary agent, and how to market and sell books successfully. Additionally, another critical purpose of HowtoPublishaBook.org
was to establish How to Publish a Book Writers' Groups in other cities around the country.
